The Alaska Chapter of NAWIC #197 would like to invite you to the NAWIC Region 9 Forum which is being held in Anchorage, Alaska on May 1 and 2nd. Come experience a taste of Alaska and the construction industry. Our chapter has organized some great educational workshops and training opportunities to expand your knowledge of the construction industry,.
Our Region will be combining with Northern California and Guam as of October 1st so this will be the last meeting that we will have as “Region 9”. You won’t want to miss this opportunity for learning and camaraderie with friendships (old and new); the retiring of Region 9 and a celebration of becoming the Pacific Northwest Region.
Make your reservations to arrive in Anchorage so that you can join us at noon on Thursday, April 30th for tours of Anchorage construction projects followed by a product tradeshow sponsored by Spenard Builders Supply. This trade show will have suppliers from across the US providing information on existing materials and the newest and greatest in the industry. The formal Annual Regional meeting will start bright and early Friday morning.
We will have workshops on “Cold Climate Building – It’s Not Only For Building Igloos”; “The Effects of Animal Migration on Construction Projects”, “Those Pesky Birds, Bears, Salmon and Protected Species on Construction”; “Building a Project Brick by Brick”; “You Want It When and Where – Construction Logistics”; and “Ice Road Building”. You won’t want to miss the Welcome Party as you will have the opportunity to meet Iditarod Musher and Painter/Artist Jon VanZyle.
